Thank you for the photo.

Troubleshooting a Vertical on an iPad:

A. Start with a Screenshot:

What happens when you take a screenshot? Do you still see this error, when view in (i.e. in the Photos app)? If so, then it is an issue with the iPadOS, if not, then it is a hardware issue, and you should get this serviced.

B. Get this Serviced:

If this is not shown in a screenshot, then get this serviced. You have a one-year, out-of-the-box, limited-warranty with this. So, see if it can be fixed, and if it would be of no cost to you (if found to be faulty device).

To Set Up a Genius Bar Appointment:

Set up a Genius Bar Appointment (GBA) at your local Apple Store.

  1. Siart here: Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple
  2. Scroll down to the Bottom of the page
  3. Click the Get hardware help button
  4. Proceed from there as necessary.

What to Bring:

Important: Bring some notes, your original proof of purchase, and create a backup prior to bringing it in. Though not required, bring the power adapter along, in case theirs does not work.  See More here: Get your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch Ready for Service - Apple Support

A reliable method to confirm a screen or other hardware fault is to take a screenshot when the fault is evident - and then review the captured screenshot image...

When reviewed, if the lines are not present in the screenshot image, then you have demonstrated that you have a hardware fault that, sooner or later, may become sufficiently severe that repair or replacement of the iPad are the only options. If the lines are visible in the screenshot, the something other than hardware will be the cause.

Note: When reviewing the image, rotating the iPad screen orientation by 90°, from Portrait to Landscape, will ensure that the image does not coincide with screen defects if present.

Take a screenshot on your iPad – Apple Support

If a screen hardware fault is demonstrated, the only remedy is repair or replacement of the iPad. You would be best advised to visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad - and discuss your available options:
