How can I select multiple contacts all at once for an email

I am creating one email that I would like to send to multiple contacts. When I click on the + sign I am only able to select one email address. Once that populates the TO field, I have to once again click on the + sign to add another contact. Is there a way to click on the + sign and from there select as many contacts as I want all at once? Thank you.

If you open Contacts and create a discontinuous selection by cmd+click or cmd-shift+click, you should be able to drag the all in at once.

If you plan on sending many emails to that group of people, make a Group in Contacts. You can select that group in Mail.
