can I modify the content in my backup? I tried to restore data from my backup but got error message that the backup size exceeds my original phone storage capacity.

I tried to restore my iPhone with the backup I created but got an error message that the same phone doesn't have enough storage for the backup created a few moments ago.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.12

You cannot edit the contents of a backup. This can happen if the phone’s storage was already full when you made the backup.
