Mac Mini and 2014 27" iMac
I want to buy the latest Mac mini.
I have an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014) running macOS 11.6.8.
I want to use this iMac as the monitor for my new Mac Mini.
Is this possible?

The latest Mac mini (M1) can't use a 2014 iMac as a display.
Use your iMac as a display with target display mode - Apple Support
"The other Mac that you're connecting it to must have been introduced in 2019 or earlier and have macOS Catalina or earlier installed."
The latest Mac mini can't run macOS Catalina or earlier"

WRONG!
No Retina iMac can be used as a display!! Only mid 2014 (which is a 24" not Retina iMac) could be used or older.
In addition, no Mac from 2020 onward can use an iMac as a display, especially an M1 MacMini!

Before you buy a new monitor, try downgrading your iMac. Downgrade your iMac to the oldest compatible version using Internet Recovery.
No this is not possible
Thanks, Braydon. I am sorry to hear that.
I like my iMac because of the great 5K screen.
Have a nice day.

Thanks, Export1.
My iMac runs macOs Big Sur, version macOS 11.6.8.
It looks like I will have to buy a new monitor.
Have a nice day.

Thanks, Malcolm.
I think I will wait for the new Mac Mini later this year or in 2023 and buy a compatible screen.
Have a nice day.
