I have 2 MacBook Pros. Because I had a Windows Desktop I have been using Google Drive. But now Drive no longer syncs the computers; somehow they are separated now.
If I switch to Icloud - will both of the computers be synced with each other?

By default, no.
If you enable sync with iCloud Drive, yes.
Add your Desktop and Documents files to iCloud Drive - Apple Support
