My phone is currently stuck on restore mode. I have a MacBook Pro mid 2014, as of Apr 2022, this Mac is obsolete. I'm thinking this is the reason I keep getting error code 4013 during the phone restore process. Help with a work around would be amazing! thank you!

There's nothing about that model of Mac that should prevent the use of it for recovery mode. I still use my mid-2012 Unibody MacBook Pro, and that can still work with any current iPhone. There can be random issues that make it difficult to operate properly. But there's nothing about that machine per se that shouldn't work to do it.
Have you tried a different Lightning cable? A marginal cable can cause a lot of problems if it disconnects.
