Battery drain when switched off

If I leave my phone on all night and not use it I lose about 2% of battery - no problem there.

If I activate airplane mode I lose about 1% - no problem there.

But physically switch it off (slide button right, no calls, home button doesn't click) and I lose 50%!!!!

How? I don't use 50% during the day playing games etc., but turn it off and certain battery death.

Do I need to return what is a brand new phone to the shop?

Thanks,

Neil

Hi Ingo2711.

So we reset the whole phone and last night it retained 100% after being turned off. That rules out a hardware issue and points to a software issue...basically there is an app on the phone which still runs in the background even when it is physically turned off ... how the **** I have no idea!!!!! I'm going to test it again tonight and then reload everything and try to work out which app has that mystical magical power!
