Push Notrifications generates lots of traffic

Hi, I'm having a problem for some weeks, my Data mobile plan started to be exceedeed. When looking for the cause of it, I found almost all the traffic was being wasted by "System Services -> Push Notifications".

It gnerates more than 2Gb a day of push notification traffic!!

Then I relaised that is happening on my ipad also (use tge same icliud account).

On the iphone I tryed to disable all notification for all apps, and removed the push for getting mail.

But it did't stop the problem. It keeps growing the push notification traffic with huge numbers....

I'm really lost here, and dont know what do do next.

Someaon had a similar problem?

Thanks!

Yes jgmartins, I solved the problem for my iPhone but my solution is a bit extreme. I changed wireless carriers. Moved from AT&T to T-Mobile and the problem stopped. (I also got a better plan with unlimited data & better price.)

Before I made the move, I talked with four different AT&T reps (including a "supervisor") who each gave me a different story on the issue from their side. Three promised to send out a firmware update that would fix the issue. I waited for 3 days but nothing arrived. The fourth one said "Oh no, we don't send out software updates. Those come from Apple." Their customer service was disappointing, to say the least. I talked with Apple Support who confirmed all the settings on my iPhone were good and there wasn't anything they could see from the Apple side that would be causing the issue. I did the factory reset, etc. All the solutions previously recommended. Nothing worked so I had to keep Cellular turned off.

After switching to the T-Mobile service, the issue disappeared. Can't explain it. Just know that it worked for me. Good luck with yours! It's certainly an annoying issue.

I am having same problem on two iPhone 12 pro maxes, an iPad Pro, and an iPad Pro second generation. I am using AT&T in St. Louis, Missouri. Problem started after installing iOS 15.6.1 and updating my apps. I am getting as much as 3.5 GB per day of "Settings > Cellular> System Services> Push Notifications", and my (otherwise healthy) battery requires unusually frequent recharging. I turned off all app Notifications (except Phone and Messages), and all background app refresh. Also, at Apple Support's suggestion, in Privacy>Location Services>System Services, I turned off several location related System Services (such as Location Based Alerts). This has not worked to stop the Push Notification data hemorrhage. Phone calls to Apple Support on 8/21/22 and 8/22/22 also failed to solve the problem. So far, the only way to stop the Push Notifications is to turn off Cellular Data. Even after stopping Cellular Data, I have noticed unusually rapid battery depletion if Wi-Fi is turned on.

That's exactly my problem! I tryed to logout from the icloud account and that stops the traffic to (but disables all the icloud services...).

By sugestion from the Apple support I've done a factory reset and a backup recover, without success solving the problem. The traffic keeps high on push notifications.

I've done several sessions with support till now, all without finding a solution.

I'm running out of options. Creating a new icloud account appears to be the only way, but that means loose all my apps and actual services.....

Do you have any clue on the origin of your prblem? any recent suspicious app?
