Keyboard Brightness

I've just purchased a new 16" MacBook Pro M1.

I see there is no keyboard brightness adjustment buttons on the physical keyboard anymore.

The significant issue I have with the keyboard brightness adjustment now being located in the Control Centre is when I'm in a very dark room and trying to log into my machine using the passcode (happen a lot), it's so dark I can't see the keys to enter my passcode.

On my old MacBook Pro, I used to be able to simply hit the keyboard brightness buttons on the physical keyboard.

This is a serious UX flaw.

Is there any way to reassign a Function Key/s to serve as a button control like the prior models?

Thanks in advance.

Upper right menu, you should see a "slider" icon. Looks like two sliders, very small; don't know its official name.

Click it then Keyboard brightness to bring up the actual brightness slider.

There is no flaw; some features have been relocated as is often the cease.

You're welcome in retrospect.

Thanks for the reply hu4hx - perhaps I didn’t state the issue clearly.

The issue with no physical brightness control button is only an issue when I’m trying to log onto my MacBook where I need to enter my password.

So the MacBook has been asleep and upon waking it I’m present with only the following on screen:

• in the centre of screen the blank field under my user name with a blinking cursor “Enter Password”

• the top right of screen with nation and keyboard symbol

• battery level symbol

• wifi connection symbol

• time

There are no other “controls” available in this “login” mode. Therefore I can’t access screen brightness and have some trouble typing in my long password in the dark as I can’t see the keyboard.

Thanks.
