Nope

The SuperDrive is probably okay, just lacking power.

Satechi has usually labeled their products that do or do not provide power sufficient for SuperDrive.

The Apple USB-C to USB-A adapter does provide sufficient power for SuperDrive, as do some other adapters.

The drive may have failed and may need replacing. I would recommend replacing it with one from www.macsales.com which specializes in Macs. You can find their selection of external drives by clicking https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/optical-drives. The one I'd recommend for general needs is the https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/MR3USD24/.

If you do a lot of CDs and DVDs especially burning, then I also recommend getting the more robust drive that rkaufmann87 suggest’s.

If you only occasionally download a CD or watch a DVD, then you can save a lot by replacing the Apple USB Supper Drive with a $40 LG DVD/CD drive.
