MacBook Pro Upgrade Part Two

Hello

I include a few photos of what I attempted to do to get the install (upgrade from Yosemeti to Sierra) to complete its course. I started this attempt two weeks ago. The issue was password authentication through Apple Store, Apple ID, Icloud and so forth. I couldn't figure out what was the difficulty as I was logged in using the administrator account and had unlocked whatever needed to be unlocked in order to prevent an incident.

There I would do a few essentials to prepare for another attempt. For example I attempted to install Chrome (as the OS suggested to do so) and the message was 'unable to install Chrome upgrade to 12.1....)

What I elected to do before attempting to install Sierra 12.1 was to log into all the Apple accounts using the username (email address) and password that works on any computer that I may gain access to. On the MacBook Pro A1398 I logged into all the accounts. No resistance.

Then again when I was asked during the installation of Sierra 12.1 for the password I encountered failure - even though I was already logged into all the Apple accounts. Very annoying.

At the first instance when I was encouraged to enter user name and password after entering the password on my Iphone I got (this always occurs) a message from Apple with a six number code. I can click on OK. Nothing happens. I can then use the six numbers and type them into the password area (as seen in the photos attached) and that creates a 'lost your password?' insult.

What's to do?

Thanks

The six digit code goes into six small individual blocks, not a single password block.

Once you get the six digits on, say, your iPhone, you go back to the Mac you're working on and enter the six digits into six blocks/empty little squares. Are you seeing that?

I'm not sure what you're doing is what needs to be done. What exactly is your ultimate goal?

What I am attempting to do is upgrade the current OS from Yosemite to Sierra.

In the past I worked on Mac desktops. When I did an upgrade I simple inserted the OS DVD and clicked install.

That was all there was to it.

With the MacBook Pro I have to log into App Store, iCloud, Apple ID in order to advance with the install.

Then the last hurdle is when I insert again the Apple ID Password I get a message on the iphone with six numbers.

That is where I encounter failure and the install drops away.

I do not get a box with empty squares. I know what that look.
