Apple Care

When I dropped my iPhone for replacement as it includes Apple care I was told they I will inform me when the stock is available to come back to pick it from the store. But when I check online the same phone with the same specifications of mine it is available in to purchase and can be picked up immediately from the same store which I went to drop it for replacement , so, why I was told that I will be informed and have to wait till the stock is available.
