apple superdrive

I can't eject a DVD from the drive; have followed all recs on the forum but still not coming out; also, the superdrive icon doesn't show up on the desktop even with the dvd inserted.

Apple USB SuperDrive does not work, ejects all DVDs. I have a 2018 Mac Mini, with an Apple USB SuperDrive. If I put in a DVD it gets ejected. This happened with os 11, and still happens with the latest os 13.5.1. I've tried 2 different Apple USB SuperDrives. I have a cheap LG external USB DVD player that works fine, and also worked on my previous os. (some random LG compatible with my Mac but an Apple device isn't?) Both drives show up in System Information. Anyone know a way to get the SuperDrive to work?

I'm looking at this help topic: How to connect the Apple USB SuperDrive - Apple Support For example, a DVD is inserted in the drive, and the drive is shiny-side up and connected to the computer. I'd like to eject the disc. My steps: 1. Restart the computer with the SuperDrive attached via a dongle, with a disc inserted. I can hear the motor in the SuperDrive making what sound like normal chunking and whirring noises, so it seems the device is attached and powered up. 2. Open Finder, then open the File menu. Note - I can hear continuing motor noises from the SuperDive. It's doing something. Maybe starting to play the disc? Expected I'd expect to see a DVD player menu, and I expect to be able to eject the disc. Actual The device seems inaccessible and unresponsive. No Eject menu item, no DVD player menu. Unable to recover the disc.

SuperDrive doesn't react anymore Last week during the holidays my gf and I did a Harry Potter Marathon. During this event we used a USB SuperDrive to watch the DVD box. This SuperDrive we used it already for quite a fewtimes the watch the HP serie. But after a little break and during the start of a new episode the SuperDrive took the DVD but didn’t start the DVD. At that moment the I checked the Utility Disk and the SuperDrive didn’t show up in the list. When I pull out the usb port and push it back in a Mac I hear the Drive starting to read the DVD for 1 sec. Then it doesn’t do anything. We used the SuperDrive with a MacBook Pro 2014, and I tried also a MacBook Pro 2020 and a MacMini2020 with M1 chip. At all of them the SuperDrive has the same reaction of 1 sec starting to read and after that nothing happens. Does somebody know what to do? Is it possible to fix the SuperDrive or is it broken? If it is broken can I get my DVD rejected from the SuperDrive? Thanks in advance.

Try restarting your Mac while holding down the left mouse button to eject the disc. The Super Drive must be connected directly to your Mac and not thorough a hub.
