Toca Boca World In App purchases not working

Hi. Hoping someone can help please. My daughter is trying to buy an in app purchase but keeps saying ‘opps that didn't go through, try again’

it worked fine about a week before though. It is a family account so i approve the purchases. The error appears very quickly after the ‘buy’ button is pressed in the app and before it gets to me for review and approval. Many thanks.

All, just to update all -

Resolved by checking the Screen Time settings, in particular the ""Content and Privacy Restrictions". If you turn these off, it works. If you turn this back on after, that's up to you. Thanks for all of the contributions.

Rocket Man PF7,

If you are concerned this may be related to using Wi-Fi while traveling abroad the Reset Network Settings option may help. You can locate that under Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Be advised that option will erase all the saved Wi-Fi passwords from your iCloud connected devices, so make sure you have your Wi-Fi passwords available. If you set up any VPN or APN options those would need to be reconfigured afterwards.

Should you still continue to get that prompt, you'll want to reach out to either the app developer or Apple Support. They'd be in the best position to look into this further:

Take care.

Thanks for the response. I had already checked versions of IOS and the App. I'm steering more towards an App issue as it is almost instantaneous with the error in the app - doesn't look as though it has time to contact the App Store.

On the Toca support site it asks if I'm in a number of countries (4 I think) and I had been travelling in 2 of them. Back home now, but worried the Hotel WiFi settings may have corrupted something and it thinks I'm in France again???

Hello Rocket Man PF7,

If the in-app purchases have worked for you in the past, the issue may be related to the software. Here are a few basics you can try.

First, make sure her iPhone software is up-to-date. The latest version of iOS is 15.6. You can go to Settings > General > About, and look at what it says next to Version. If it does not show 15.6 listed, you'll want to make a backup of your device and update the software. The update process can frequently address unexpected software behavior. If the iOS software is up-to-date, you'll want to open the App Store and make sure that the app software is also on the most current version. Look at those steps here: How to manually update apps on your Apple device - Apple Support.

How to manually update apps on your iPhone or iPad

1. Open the App Store.
2. Tap your profile icon at the top of the screen.
3. Scroll to see pending updates and release notes. Tap Update next to an app to update only that app, or tap Update All.

Also, if you have Screen Time enabled on her device, you may want to verify the Screen Time settings. Look over this link to learn more: Prevent in-app purchases from the App Store - Apple Support.

We hope this information helps.

Cheers!
