Cannot sign on Chrome or Safari

If I open Gmail, it shows as signed in, but on regular Google search does not let me sign in. I'm on the last version, cleared cache, and did everything recommended. I cannot sign in since a week ago

I've tried removing the Google email address from my Mac and then adding back in - It gives me a message "Google requires completing authentication in your web browser." but when I click the option to do this it just hangs there. I did note that it seemed to want me to open this Authentication in Safari but I've tried that to no avail. Any ideas please?

"Google requires completing authentication in your web browser" - authentication not working Hi, starting earlier today I stopped being able to access a gmail account in the mail app on my MacBook Pro. When I click on it, it says that "google requires completing authentication in your web browser," and it has a button to open safari. When I click the button, it opens Chrome (my default browser), but there is no option available to sign into my account. I have tried manually opening safari, which does prompt me to sign into my account, but even after signing in there I still can't access my account. I've also manually signed in on chrome, but I still can't get in. I've tried turning my laptop on and off again but still no results. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm running macOS Catalina version 10.15.7 if that helps. Thanks!

if in doubt search the developers website or contact their: Support/Help/FAQ/Known issues/compatibility/Updates
