Iphone keyboard changes previous words when using Slide to Type

Reviving this previous post:

Stop autocorrect changing previous words - Apple Community

When typing on my iPhone 13 (currently on iOS 15.6) with Slide to Type, previous words will get changed.

Ex. I start typing "From noon to 4" but as I'm typing "to" the keyboard decides to change the previous word to "non", so that my message reads "From non to 4"

I've disabled the Auto-Correction and Predictive options and it still happens. When I disable Slide to Type the problem goes away.

This seems like a bug -- I don't see why Slide to Type takes it upon itself to dynamically change words after they've been correctly typed.

^ No offense, but that general community answer by Todd is a complete insult and unhelpful. To OP, I also have this issue and found your question today while searching online (since I experience the same issue). From what I have seen, there is currently no fix for this and is very aggravating as I had to re-correct half this paragraph because slide-to-type keeps autocorrecting words like you said. Hope they fix it in a future IOS release.

Greetings JawnFrawn,

Ensuring your messages are not auto-correcting or changing unexpectedly is important and you've come to a great place for help. You've also walked through great steps to help isolate the issue further. Since you've isolated this issue to Slide to Type, have you restarted the iPhone to see if the issue persists when that feature is enabled? If not, restart your iPhone using the steps listed below.

  1. "Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
  2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
  3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo."

Restart your iPhone

In addition to restarting the iPhone, you'll also want to make sure your finger isn't slightly touching the screen when typing and Slide to Type is enabled. This could be a potential reason for the words being misspelled. If you continue to have issues after those steps, you'll want to reach out to Apple next. You can find their contact details via the link below.
