Touch ID to wake up MacBook

When I tap my Touch ID when my MacBook Pro 14 inch is sleeping opened for a couple second, it wakes and unlocks the computer. However after a few minutes, if I do the same thing, the computer does not wake or unlock. I either have to press the power button or any key. Is this normal or there something wrong with the software or hardware of my computer?

MacBook Pro 14″, macOS 12.5
