Mac Studio forgets monitor arangement.

Every time I turn on my Studio Ultra or when it wakes from sleep, it forgets the arrangements of the USB/Thunderbolt monitors. The HDMI monitor always stays at the end. Does anyone else have this problem? Better yet, does anyone else have a solution?

Thanks.

Mac Studio, macOS 12.5

that appears to be:

HP U32 4K HDR Monitor

https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-u32-4k-hdr-monitor#techSpecs

it has DisplayPort, HDMI, and USB-C inputs

Your other display is also 4K and has

HDMI and DisplayPort inputs.

--------

What happens with certain multiple displays, is that the maker, did not take adequate care with what field the serial number is placed in, in the "Plug & Play" response information returned to the Mac. So your twin displays look EXACTLY alike, because they have (in the opinion of the Mac, that DOES follow the VESA standard) the EXACT SAME serial number!

You MIGHT be able to cheat by placing one of the Twin displays on HDMI instead of your LG display, but that may not solve the problem.

The real solution is to have the manufacturer update the display firmware to put the serial number in the correct field, and then your twin displays would look unique. -OR-

to get a different display so that you no longer have these BOTH of these defective twin displays on the same Mac.

The two monitors that keep getting mixed up are,"HP 4K HDR 31.5-inch Monitor 4K" I am trying to find the actual model number for them. Sadly the Amazon page where I purchased them only has the description and the boxes are long science gone.

If I won't get into trouble for posting the link to where I purchased them,

The HDMI monitor that is not having problems is a LG 32UN500-W Monitor 32.

I was thinking it was something like that. Sadly, the LG only has HDMI and DisplayPort. I was hoping that there might be a 1 in 10,000 chance that I could use a USB/Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter and make the computer think it was a different monitor. If nothing else, I guess I could try to find other large screen 4k monitors that have USB or Thunderbolt inputs, but most of the ones I can find are HDMI/Displayport only.

Thanks for the very helpful answer.
