My wireless Apple keyboard is disabled and does not connect to Bluetooth. Magic Mouse works fine on Bluetooth. I replaced wireless keyboard with a hardwired keyboard via usb connection. MacOS is at 12.5.1. Are there more updates /fixes?

My OS on my new MiniMac is up-to-date at 12.5.1 . My Apple keyboard with fresh batteries became disabled and will not connect via Bluetooth but my Magic Mouse works fine on Bluetooth. I had to replace keyboard with one connected via USB cable. This happened after news of new malware appearing which does not have fix yet. Is this the cause? If not how can I fix it?

Mac mini 2018 or later
