I've just bought a MacBook Pro with M2 chip and also a USB-C dock with a Gigabit Ethernet port. However, my computer won't recognize the ethernet cable when I plug it into the port. What am I doing wrong?

How can I connect my new MacBook Pro with M2 chip to the internet using an ethernet cable and a USB-C Mini Dock with Gigabit ethernet port?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.4

System preferences > network ...

in the list of Interfaces, is there any entry that strongly suggests Ethernet?

If not, add one by clicking the [+] under the list of interfaces.

You should be offered Ethernet... something to add.

Then you can configure it to use it.
