I just reset my password with a link sent to my email. It looks like everything is working but I can't login on my Mac pro. How long does it take for the Mac to trcognize new password?

I doubt anybody on this site sent you an email to do anything; that's just not done. Why would it be when you can get almost real time help right here?
What you are describing is a known phishing scam to get you to divulge your password. You do not need an email to change your password on your Mac.
The way I was able to send you a message was through the link I got in email when I completed the process it sent me to support page if I had any other questions. After I couldn't access my account through the new password I came back to the email and post this message. Someone sent me a link through this site about how to reset my password and they told me to do it again.
What prompted you to need to do this? It sounds like phishing to me, a scam, but if you requested a password change it could be legitimate.
You don't need email to change your Apple device password.
I'm at the log in page. I've tried entering my new password 3 times hoping to get some options and the only option I have is to restart and start up in safe mode. What should I do now?
