what devices need immediate system update?

I have read somewhat vague news reports the sky is falling, but where is a list of the actual devices needing updates? There does not seem to be anything on Apple.com

It's always a good idea to update your systems to the latest OS. There is certainly much hyperbole out there; updates and patches are routine occurrences. Check for updates under System Preferences > General > Software Update

Patches are available for Catalina and newer, and iOS devices and iPads with at least 2GB of RAM. If Apple decides that older systems need the patch, they'll release a separate one.
