"Restore iPhone" Button does not work

Hi, I am trying to factory restore my iPhone since there seems to be something wrong with how it's set up. I am currently using my Windows 11 computer (up-to-date) with iTunes (12.10.5.12, up-to-date according to Apple Software Update), and my phone is an iPhone SE 3rd generation (iOS 15.6.1).

When I plug my iPhone into my computer with iTunes open, I can see the device appear in iTunes. I click on the summary page after trusting the device from my phone and click "Restore iPhone..." but nothing appears to be happening.

I've put my phone into recovery mode and attached it back to my computer, and iTunes will pop up with a prompt to choose to Update or Restore the iPhone, but neither option seems to do anything. I've repeated this process with different lightning cables and different USB ports on my PC (all are at least USB3.0), and restarting both my PC and iPhone but the same results still occur.

Please advise if this is an issue with iTunes or if there is something I can try.

It’s excellent you provided this information. It indicates there is clearly something wrong.

You’re using Windows 11 which is great. You’re using iOS 15.6.1 which is the current version and also excellent. But iTunes is a different story.

The current iTunes version is 12.12.4.1, released by Apple in May, 2022. Your version, iTunes 12.10.5.12, was released by Apple in March, 2020. And that version was not even the final release of iTunes 12.10, as iTunes 12.10.11 was released by Apple in April, 2021.

I am also having the same issue and went through all the steps mentioned above

Really?

  • Are you using Windows 11?
  • Are you using iTunes 12.10.5.12?
  • Do you have an iPhone SE 3rd generation?
  • Are you using iOS 15.6.1?
  • Do you see the iPhone in iTunes?
  • Have you trusted the device?
  • Have you then clicked “Restore iPhone?
  • Did you place the iPhone in Recovery Mode?
