If your Mac is running macOS Catalina or later, be aware that the iTunes app for Macs was discontinued and replaced. See: What happened to iTunes? - Apple Support

You use Finder instead of iTunes for a disabled iPhone. See instructions in If you forgot your iPhone passcode - Apple Support
