Help with open Terminal i Recovery mode of Mac Mini:

I have a Mac Mini (M1), that I start in Recovery Mode. So far so good.

Problem is I need to find the terminal in that mode, but can't.

I attach screenshots of how my Recovery Mode looks. I guess where it

says "There are no users on this volume to recover" should be options

instead? I do have an admin account on my Mac though...

I'd appreciate it if someone could help me solve this issue.

Mac mini, macOS 12.0

This prompt to authenticate occurs when using a 2018+ Mac with a T2 security chip or an M1/M2 with Apple Silicon. Sometimes the information becomes corrupted somehow which in my experience usually requires you to "Restore" the system firmware which will also destroy all data on the internal drive. I did have one system where I had multiple macOS admin user accounts and solved the problem by deleting one of them (perhaps adding a new admin user account may work as well if you can boot the Mac normally or into Safe Mode). This security feature does have some bugs as I discovered when this happened to one of our organization's 2018+ Macs. Otherwise you will need to "Restore" the firmware using the instructions in this Apple article:

Revive or restore a Mac with Apple silicon using Apple Configurator - Apple Support

I hope you have a backup because there is no way to recover the hardware encrypted data without being able to authenticate, although you could check with a professional data recovery service such as Drive Savers to be sure.

You should always have frequent and regular backups of your computer and all external media (including the cloud) which contains important & unique data.
