iPad (7th generation) water damage

Some water got into the inside of my iPad and now it doesn’t even turn on. I tried restarting the iPad (holding the power button and the home button for ≈12 seconds) and nothing happened. I tried charging it for a while as well. Is there a way to fix this?

Replace it, usually. Apple and others usually won’t repair a water-damaged device.

And even if it still works or starts working again, corrosion can follow.

You can try drying it. Apple recommends dry air and a breeze directed at the device for a day or two.

Rice isn’t recommended, as rice dust and broken rice tends to turn into a solid inside the equipment, and which can plug and can corrode and can rot.

Thanks for the suggestion, how do I dry it safely?

Set it someplace warm (not hot) and dry. Leave it off and unplugged for several days. Once it's completely dry, plug it in and see if it turns on on its own. If it doesn't try turning it on.

While you're waiting for it to dry, start thinking about how you're going to replace it because the chances of it working properly again are very small.

And, yeah, don't do the rice thing. In addition to not working, it's a waste of perfectly good food.

Water and electronics do not make happy bedfellows - as iPad has absolutely no resistance to water damage. If you iPad has gotten wet - and is now misbehaving in any way - significant damage should be suspected.

You would be well advised to make an appointment with with the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where your iPad can be tested and assessed. If service is required, although replacement is often necessary, you’ll be in the best possible place to explore your available options.

Extracting Water from an iPad:

Lay this in a plate full rice for a few hours. No Success? Take this to a retailer, asking them if they have a machine for this. Retailers have these machines.
