How can I stop my iphone from talking over my conversation while I have an incoming call, during a current phone call. Every time I am talking with someone and another person/bot calls me, I have to apologize and ask them to repeat themselves because the iphone talked over them and muted them to tell me I have a call. Androids simply vibrate but do not interrupt your current conversation at all. Seems like common sense to me.
Call waiting is a carrier feature. Not all carriers support controlling it from the settings on the phone, but virtually all include it as part of your cellular service.
If you don’t want call waiting, contact your cellular carrier and ask them to remove it from your plan.

Ah, so I understand your confusion about my meaning of “it”.
I have a Call Waiting option, and believe it’s very common.
So perhaps you are not using a GSM or later cellular network, or your cellular carrier has some other peculiarity.

In the iphone settings, I already have "Announce Calls" set to "Never". Not sure what you refer to as "it" stating turn "it" off. If you are referring to select an option when the call appears, that would not suffice as the voice has already interrupted the call. Try again. The mapping you gave is not accurate either and is as follows with the latest Iphone update:
Settings > Phone > .......No "Call Waiting" option exists here. Searching for it took me also to this page.
You object to using call waiting. So simply turn it off.
Settings > Phone > Call Waiting
And/or … if it’s Announce Calls you’re objecting to, change its setting.
