Apple TV (Siri Remote) no longer working

Hi there,


I have the latest Apple TV 4K box and remote. Both running on the most up to date firmwares. For some reason the last few days, I've lost the ability to turn the volume up, down or mute. Ive tried the usual re-pairing and resetting of the TV and Apple TV box but im at a loss. Changing between auto and IR config won't help either. It would seem that the learn new device does not work either as firing the TV remote at it will not do anything? I have also tried this with other Apple TV remotes also that I have but none will pair or work the TV. If I hold done menu and up, the notification pops up to begin pairing but never does. Am I missing something or is this a firmware related issue?

Try restarting just the remote, as described on:

If your Apple TV remote isn't working - Apple Support

1. Press and hold the TV/Control Center button  and the Volume Down button  at the same time. Hold the buttons down for about 5 seconds, or until the status light on Apple TV turns off then turns on again.  
2. Release the buttons, then wait 5–10 seconds. A Connection Lost notification will appear on your TV screen. 
3. After your remote restarts, a Connected notification will appear on your TV screen.
