Spectrum app cloud dvr issues on Apple TV 4k

I have an Apple TV 64gb, running tvOS 15.6, with a thoroughly up to date Spectrum app.


When replaying recorded cloud DVR content on the Spectrum app it is common to press the >= button to pause and then use touch button or wheel to Fast Forward or otherwise reposition the playback. Oftentimes this causes the preview window to freeze and the cloud dvr to lose it’s place and start over.


I recognize this may be an app issue for Spectrum, but the app works fine on my iPad and iPhone. In fact, I sometimes resort to using my iPad to view recorded content and AirPlay it to the AppleTV box.

Appears to be the same issue from 2 years ago, with no resolution. . It really makes the cdvr nearly unusable.


It would be instructive to learn if any Apple TV 4K owners are using the Spectrum cdvr without this issue.

Spoke with a Spectrum tech today. Apparently it’s a known issue that occurs intermittently on some boxes. The tech indicated she and her husband do a lot of cloud recording of long programs, such as sporting events and have never had any playback issues.


She said the issue has been kicked up to their ‘engineers’.


The skeptic in me is not satisfied. What is it about my set up that drops me into this ‘intermittent’ category? Some odd setting? Some interfering app?


Would still like to hear from someone on this group that uses Spectrum cdvr without playback problems. Otherwise I may try Hulu Live or Youtube TV to see if their dvrs work better.

Given that this sounds very much like a bug with their app, it would have nothing to do with your setup. In all honesty, it sounds like the tech wanted to downplay the issue. Whether she did pass it on to their engineers and they are investigating, is the next question. In the meantime, you may want to see what trials are available for those services so you can try them out.
