Loss of Fan in Download Folder on Dock

After accidentally deleting the download folder from my dock, restoring it, and then attempting to view it as a fan, I am unable to find the fan option. When I right click on the download folder in the dock"", the only options I see are: Open"Downloads" and "Options", the latter of which only drops down: "Remove from Dock" "Open at Login" or "Show in Finder". (I have a MacBookPro running version 12.4 macOS Monterey.) [On the folder in the dock, there appears to be a little dark blue arrow in the lower left corner, if that means anything.) Is there anyone who can offer some assistance? Thanks.

you created an alias. I would delete/remove that.

If your Downloads folder is in the Finder Sidebar you can Control click on that>Add to Dock

Then make changes to see your "fan"

Thanks to both of you, but there seems to be a different issue. I have removed the alias from the dock and then attempted to add to dock from the download folder on my sidebar. This creates another alias in my dock. (So, the one listed on the sidebar must also be an alias.) The "sidebar" download files point to an original that is in a dropbox on my mac, which I can view in finder. But when I try to right-click that download folder to save to dock, the save to dock option is not available.

If you have your Downloads tied up with Dropbox this could be an issue(?)
