Recently my Macbook Pro stopped receiving SMS verification codes. My phone, watch and ipad can receive them, but not the Macbook. Everything is up to date and on the same network. What setting controls verification codes? I didn't change anything. that I know of. Thanks.
Lets clarify:
Is your Mac failing to receive Apple2FA verification codes (which are NOT SMS).
(the fix for which your Mac needs to be signed-in to your AppleID)
… OR …
Are you failing to receive “other” 6-digit One-Time Password (OTP) Codes sent from web sites OTHER than Apple?
(the fix for which is outlined here:
If you can’t send or receive messages on your Mac - Apple Support)
Note: No Mac can send or receive SMS w/o “paired” iPhone (which handles the actual Tx/Rx’ing).

Before anything else … fully power-off and restart BOTH your iPhone and Mac IF you’ve not done so already.

Somehow. Notifications for iMessage were turned off. Flipped the switch and problem solved. Thanks!
I restarted and now I can see the OTP text messages when I click on Messages. But they also used to pop up at the top near the menu bar. Not a big deal, but it is very convenient when the messages just pop up.
Other than Apple. I am not receiving OTP 6-digit One-Time Password (OTP) Codes. I always did until recently - Not sure what changed. My Macbook is signed in to my Apple ID. What are the steps to fix this? Thanks.
