Links in Mail no longer work

Lately most links in mail no longer work and I get the same issue trying to login to various sites manually: I get a blank page with the text "No such file or directory." When I check the address bar it begins "Not Secure—..."

What is going on? Is there a way to force Mac to open links, rather than decline? I can't even log in to my StateFarm account with out this annoyance. (Changing browser from Safari to Chrome gets the same result).

Let me see if I understand correctly;

You get the same problem on both Safari and Chrome.

You get the same problem with both links from Mail and links you enter manually ("trying to login...manually").

It happens on the State Farm website but not this Apple Support Community website (since you were able to post here).

Am I in the right ballpark?

Did this start happening around the time you installed any other software or hardware?
