M2885FW Printer driver
Is there an iOS12.x printer driver for the M2885FW Samsung printer? The old driver for iOS10 doesn't work for PDF scans.
Mac mini 2018 or later

Hi,
Would it be correct to assume that you mean macOS, not iOS?
The Samsung Xpress M2885FW is a model supporting the AirPrint technology.
About AirPrint - Apple Support
AirPrint is compatible with macOS (12 Monterey), and can be used without additional printer drivers, provided that the printer and the Mac computer are connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router). AirPrint works with wireless (Wi-Fi) or wired (Ethernet) network connections (so it would be possible to connect the printer by Ethernet to one of the LAN ports of a Wi-Fi router, if you so wish).
Drivers from the printer manufacturer may or may not add functionality, and would be required for a USB connection.
Image Capture (in macOS) can be used for scanning (may need a driver).
If there is a problem anyway, a commercial product such as VueScan could perhaps be worth testing.
Add a printer to your printer list so you can use it on Mac – Apple Support (UK)
Reset the printing system on your Mac to solve a problem – Apple Support (UK)
Printing via AirPrint is possible with an iPad or iPhone as well.

Thank you for your reply. I can't see how AirPrint can fix the scanning problem? I have reinstalled the printer, many times over but the scanning problem continues to exist. I have no problem scanning with my old Mac using macOS10.13. Unfortunately , I don't have room to keep both Macs on my desk.
Why the AirPrint suggestions? Why the confusion? Probably because the most important word in the post is the very last one, and “printer driver” is repeated three times. The references to iOS 12 (which is a fairly common version for older iPhone and iPad) and the yet-older iOS 10 don’t support scanning without add-ons confused me, and the likely involvement of macOS (and macOS 12 does support various scanners) is indicated only in the footer. The printer model name is also apparently different, as I see Samsung SL-M2885FW and not M2885FW. Some vendors have zillions of shared names and shared numbers and sometimes for some very different printers, so the model number can matter.
The following lists a printing and scanning driver package from the vendor:
If those are not working for you and you’ve already tried those, we don’t know that unless you tell us.
If you cannot find a scanner driver available from the vendor, or if the package from the vendor does not work (as appears to be the case here), then reset the printing subsystem and try again, then contact the printer vendor support, then failing all that see if VueScan works. VueScan does list drivers for Samsung SL-M288x series. And going full-circle for problematic printer drivers, AirPrint is handy when drivers aren’t available or aren’t working.

I reset the printing system, as suggested and now I can only scan images as a JPEG. I have lost all the other options, including scanning to PDF, that I had previously. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer but nothing changes. What do I do now to get back to where I had the original options?
If the vendor is no longer supporting the printer, and any vendor app store driver download kit is unavailable or not working. your options are limited. VueScan and AirPrint is potentially one option to use this hardware setup. Or replace it.
have you tried the latest driver for that model ?

Yes, I tried that download twice with no success.
