Accidentally deleted message

What can't Apple allow device owners to restore messages that were accidentally deleted? This is nearing sadism!

No one can answer a question that begins with “Why” in this user to user forum.

Apple made it impossible to “accidentally” delete a message, by displaying a modal dialog that asks “are you sure” before the message is actually deleted. So your question should really be about intentionally deleted messages.

Anyway, Go to Settings/[your name]/iCloud. Is the switch for Messages turned on? If it is, there is no way to recover a deleted text message.

If it is off and you have a backup that was made before the text message was deleted you can restore that backup to the phone, however, this will replace everything on the phone with the contents of the backup; essentially it will set the phone to the state it was in at the time the backup was made.

For reference...

Troubleshooting Deleted Messages:

What to Consider:

A. Restore from Today's Backup:

Restore your iPhone from a backup of it that contains these messages, and you could recover them.

B. Check Messages App:

If messages was enabled on your iPhone along with your Apple computer, then check and see if the Messages app is enabled on your Mac to see if it exists in it. You'd start up your Mac, not connecting to the Internet, and open the Massages app. Then proceed from there with retrieving it. Important: Be certain you do not connect to the Internet while booting up, as syncing would delete it. So, power off your router to avoid the connection.
