The Apple Care+ monthly or yearly options are considered subscriptions and can be paid using Apple ID balance directly.

The Apple Balance will be used automatically, no need to select it.

If there is an issue with your current payment method on your account, it will require you resolve that issue before it can successfully charge your account balance however.

If you have no payment method on file, you may need to add one. It will use your balance first before charging your payment method.
