i chose a touch pad instead of button press on my IPhone 11 but that causes my screen to roll or scroll when I put it in my pocketbook or pocket and just accidentally picks an icon to open from the movement
What can I purchase to stop this? I think my girlfriend bought a clear cover for hers? Help!!! It’s driving me crazy. I do have a “case” I could use, but it makes my phone very hot as it closes with a magnetic snap.

Make sure you lock the screen by pressing the button on the right side of the phone before putting it in your pocket.
The fact that a case has a magnetic snap will not make your phone very hot. If your phone is getting very hot, make arrangements with apple to have it serviced.

Thank you so much for the tip to keep my IPhone from scrolling around inside my pocketbook or pants pockets !! I had no clue that I just needed to click the right button to do this! I have pulled my hair out wondering why this would happen and then wished I had requested a "button" push phone.
Regarding the case, it has a white plastic case that fits onto the phone and the whole backside of either the case or the actual pocketbook type holder keeps it secure and then another part like a book cover closes on top of it. Just seems like there is no room for the phone to "breathe" and gets hot in the back. Maybe I will see if my phone needs serviced but I have a feeling since it was marked down so much at the store, that something wasn't right.
But my main question and problem has been solved which I appreciate very much.
