I am assuming you don’t have AirPods Pro?

If you have AirPods 1st or 2nd Gen., this loss of volume is due to the continuous build up of earwax in the metal mesh on the Airpod.

To fix it grab a clean, soft and DRY toothbrush and some 99,9% rubbing Alkohol (isopropanol) and soak the mesh with isopropanol. After letting it soak for a few seconds, start brushing at the mesh. Repeat for a few times. Then let it dry for at least 10 minutes and you should be good to go.

This procedure worked very well for me for the last couple of times.
