Cannot find information on how to use the USB SuperDrive once it is connected to the computer. Don't I need to install a driver?
The Driver is already included in macOS.
The empty drive never appears on the desktop, only mounted Volumes appear on the desktop.
Insert a disc and see if it appears on the desktop or opens Apple Music.

how is the superdrive connected to the Mac? it needs to be connected directly to the Mac, and not through a hub or dock.

look for the device.
If found, look at how much power it wants, and how much power the bus you have it plugged into can supply.

and to eject a stuck disk, try powering the Mac down. then restart using the power button. and then press and hold the mouse button, (or the equivalent on a MacBook) until the disc ejects.
