In the last week, my YouTube performance has dropped significantly. YouTube appears to be the only App with issues. Videos that used to launch in 1 second now take 10 seconds, with the buffering circle showing most of that time. tvOS is 15.6. Internet is 1Gbps. AP is 5GHz at > 200Mbps. No change to DNS, etc. Reset was no help. Older model Apple TV and Roku's no problem. Any suggestions?

Just discovered that going into AppleTV settings > Video and Audio > Match Content … and turn OFF both Match Dynamic Range and Match Frame Rate solves the YouTube problem that started at the end of August 2022.

If not, follow the steps below to update to the latest tvOS version. Updating is a great step in addition to the reset you've already tried, and can help with resolving this issue.

I noticed the exact same problem! Videos start with a black screen and maybe audio after a couple of seconds. Then the video finally displays but it’s already 5 seconds in. And when I press Menu to go back, it takes a ridiculous amount of time with just black screen and buffering circle. This was not solved with an update, restart, or even re-installation of the YouTube app on my 2021 AppleTV 4K.
