Time Zone glitch in iOS 15.6.1 regarding Atlantic time
Why does iOS substitute the Atlantic Daylight Time Zone for the San Juan PR Time Zone when I create a calendar entry in my iPhone 13 Pro that takes place in San Juan PR during Atlantic Daylight Time months? San Juan is on AST year-round; ADT means nothing to Puerto Rico. We're AST 24/7/365, so ADT should be ignored by iOS in the context of San Juan PR events. If I create an event using the San Juan PR time zone setting, iOS should use AST all the time, without exception.
But it doesn't. When ADT is in effect, iOS factors ADT into San Juan PR events, and creates incorrect times, because San Juan PR is only and always on AST.
For example, if I create an iOS calendar entry that starts at 9am in San Juan PR and I tell iOS to use the San Juan PR setting for the time zone, the calendar entry that syncs to Outlook will show an 8am starting time in Outlook. This is because 9am ADT is 8am AST, and for some inexplicable reason when I set the event time for 9am using San Juan PR in the Time Zone field, iOS thinks I mean 9am ADT, even though Puerto Rico is never on ADT! It's only and always on AST. What the??
Anyone know why it's doing this? Or is it just a bug or flaw in iOS and Apple either doesn't know or doesn't care?
Thanks.
