Airpods Max sound only comes out of one ear when connected to Macbook Pro, but both ears when connected to iPhone

I know that there is not a hardware problem with my Airpods Max because sound does come out of both ears when connected to my iPhone, but I can't get it to come out of both ears when connected to my Macbook Pro. I tried playing sound from different applications and browsers on my Macbook Pro (including Music app, Chrome and Safari) and all of them only play sound from my right ear. When I play sound from my iPhone it comes out of both ears. How do I fix this? I tried disconnecting from Bluetooth, turning bluetooth off and on, turning Airpods off and on, and turning off bluetooth on other devices which I am not using.

Hey there alexaporges,

Have you checked the balance for sound output on your Mac? If not, follow the steps below and check to see if this persists:

1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, click Sound , then click Output.
2. Select the device you want to use in the list of sound output devices.
All sound output devices available to your Mac are listed, including the computer’s internal speakers, devices plugged into your computer’s sound port (Audio port icon), USB speakers, and AirPlay devices.
For any device plugged into the computer’s sound port, choose Headphones.
3. Do any of the following to adjust your sound output settings:
• Adjust the balance: Drag the Balance slider.

Take care!
