flash of light under menu bar when lifting open closed MacBook Pro 2019

about a month ago while I was still not upgraded to Monterey and still using mohave my MacBook suddenly started to flash a bright light behind the menu bar on the upper portion of keypad when I opened it up to use for the day. I have since upgraded but it still happens. also as soon as the Monterey 12.5.1 was installed I came back to use the computer a bit later and the fan was racing and it was very hot. I had not been using it. not sure if this is a common problem, I have googled the flash of light under menu bar and that does seem to be a problem with these computers going back even several years but the "fixes" were old posts and I'm not a computer nerd and don't have the knowledge to disable/reinstall/reboot apps or systems or whatever had been suggested at that time. can anyone shed any light on this situation? thanks. ps. I do use Avira scan and I have no virus issues.

Touchbar...(?)

on a Intel Mac you can —

Try resetting the SMC Reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

and

Try resetting NVRAM/PRAM Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

(get at least two-three rounds of the chimes when holding the NRAM Reset)

Try uninstalling your third party AV and compare your results !

How do I uninstall Avira Security for Mac?

Why can I no longer uninstall Avira Antivirus for Mac?

Uninstall all third party apps that are Cleaners/Optimizers/VPN/Anti-Virus

all known to cause issues on the macOS

Third party AntiVirus is not recommended— it typically does nothing but add issues to the macOS and competes directly with Apple’s own built in security:

macOS - Security - Apple macOS - Security - Apple

Apple Platform Security - Apple Apple Platform Security - Apple Support
