Scaling issue with my extended display full screen mode VMWare Horizon Client.

I'm experiencing scaling issues whenever I connect via VMWare Horizon Client. When I am on full screen mode, the text are blurry and some pictures are distorted. But in window mode, everything looks fine.

Resolutions instead of scaling options in Displays settings I have a 4k display attached to my 13 inch, M1, 2020 MacBook Pro running macOS Ventura 13.1. The display is connected via HDMI to a USB-C hub. Until recently (not sure if related to the OS upgrade to Ventura), the MacBook would automatically select the 4k resolution of the display and offer me the usual scaling options with thumbnails displaying how large text and buttons would appear on the screen. I could change the scaling, but the resolution would always be 4k and the image was sharp. This somehow changed. Now I get offered several resolutions, but no scaling options. When I select the 4k resolution (3840x2160), the image is sharp, but text is way too small to read. I can select the full HD resolution (1920x1080), but then the image is blurry. When I then right-click on the full HD resolution, I can select "Use default mode" from a drop-down menu. Then the scaling/text size stays the same as for full HD but the resolution is 4k again, with a sharp image. I really do not understand what is going on. My MacBook is clearly capable of using the 4k resolution of my screen but I somehow do not get the options to change the scaling of that resolution. As a side note, "show all resolutions" just gives me more (bad) resolution options, all of which are blurry.

Why does Apple not have proper UI scaling to make UI elements bigger while still rendering the content at native resolution? I am really frustraited with the 15 inch M2 MacBook Air I have to use for work because I cannot make the UI elements bigger than native resolution without having to endure blurry content. It isn't as bad as some of the zoom ratios used on other people's machines, but as a photographer I could never imagine buying this to use photoshop. It seems quite deceptive to hype up the "Retina Display" as providing clearer text or high resolution when the way you have to make the UI usable makes it anything but crisp
