Apple refers to "KBB" as "Known Bad Board". This would refer to the defective part in your laptop especially if Apple performed a repair.

As for the Texas reference, it sounds like your laptop was mailed to an Apple mail-in repair depot since one of those repair depots is located in Texas. I'm not sure what "adsf" means as I've never seen it before.

I'm assuming the Logic Board was replaced in your laptop since you've lost data. With the USB-C Apple laptops the SSD is soldered to the Logic Board so all data will be lost if you did not have a backup prior to the repair. In many cases, if the Logic Board fails, then it is usually impossible to recover data from the integrated SSD -- especially with the 2018+ models because the data on the SSD is hardware encrypted and requires a working Logic Board to decrypt the data. It is up to the user to have backups of their data. Apple includes the Time Machine backup software for free with macOS so there is no reason not to have a backup. There are also many other methods for backing up your data which may involve paid third party apps and services.

You should always have frequent and regular backups of your computer and all external media (including the cloud) which contains important & unique data.

You need to talk to the repair shop. Ask for a manager to help explain things. We are just other users such as yourself so we cannot really help you with specifics of your situation as we don't have access to all the details of the situation. I was only making some observations from very limited details. Only someone fully aware of the situation can answer your questions completely & accurately. The only people familiar with the situation is at the Apple Store you visited.

As for a clicking or ticking noise, most likely that is just fan noise. The noise may be from the fan bearing. I've been hearing fan bearing noises much more often with the USB-C Apple laptops than the older models. Again, this is something the Apple Store or AASP can confirm.
