How do I turn off an iPhone XR without using the screen?

I need to turn off an iPhone XR that has a broken, unusable screen. And it needs to stay off.

I've scoured the internet and only found instructions for turning off the phone using the slider on the screen, or for using just the buttons to restart the phone.

But I can't use the screen at all and I need the phone to stay off.

Please advise.

You can’t turn off an iPhone with a broken screen. Just let the battery run down. You can erase it remotely, however, if you have enabled Find My before it was damaged. Using a web browser on your computer log in to https://icloud.com/find, click on the phone in the list of devices, and you can erase it.
