Perhaps these are a Faulty Device?
Had your AirPods replaced? Contact Apple Support back mentioning to them that you think these are faulty. They may have been mismatched when packaged --nothing on your part. Apple makes misshaping of mismatching oh so often when replacing AirPods. And it's reported plenty of times on these forums.
