Is the printer connected to a Wi-Fi router? It is usually better to connect via a router (that is, not using a direct Wi-Fi solution).

A power-cycle procedure can sometimes be useful (even for non-AirPrint printers).

Power off the Wi-Fi router, the printer, and the Mac computer. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the printer. Wait a minute or two. Power on the Mac computer.
