How can I reset login for my brand new iMac?
Did you migrate during the initial setup or after?
If you migrated during the initial setup, then the password should be the same as the old MacBook.
If you migrated after the initial set up of the new iMac, then migration created a second user Account.

I think the problem is that I am in France now - and chose Danish as system language, yet the keyboard is French, so I need to rethink the letters on the French keyboard .-)

After. And what would that second user account have as a default password?
Normally, the password is the same as the old Mac - but it doesn't work now.
And I don't know the password for the Admin on my new iMac..??
