Can anyone give me a clue to why my cursor freezes when using a Magic Trackpad? At this point any hint at all would be welcome.

Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Trackpad lets you alter the settings. It may have a multitouch feature.

If the trackpad is battery operated make sure that the trackpad is not over 2 years old, or the batteries in it are not.

If it is on Bluetooth, make sure no phones or other devices have come within 30 feet that might try to pair in its place.

Hi there curly1,

We're happy to provide some guidance. Take a look at this information for more help with the cursor not moving on your MacBook Pro:

If the pointer doesn’t move when you use the trackpad on your Mac notebook computer, make sure you’re using only one finger on the trackpad. Depending on the type of Mac notebook computer you have and the options you set in Trackpad preferences, using more than one finger on the trackpad may not move the pointer.
To see the options, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, click Trackpad , then click Point & Click.

If the issue persists, work through the remaining suggestions here: If the pointer doesn’t move when using the trackpad with Mac

Take care.
