Cursor/Laptop freezing for a few seconds

Currently using a 2017 MacBook Air and there are times where I'm using the trackpad and general web browsing and the whole laptop will freeze for a few seconds before recovering again.

Hoping to hang on to this laptop for a bit longer until I can afford an upgrade, but is it on its way out?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.4
